Miscellany: John Kruk, Meatballs, Trains; Zelensky's Power Fleece
Just a few things.
I invited John Kruk to go with me to a Springsteen show in Philly this summer. I don’t know John Kruk, but, thanks to Twitter, I found myself having a conversation with him about the Boss (and the likelihood that Mitch Williams has thrown an ax). Kruker wasn’t sure if Williams threw axes, but we all know Wild Thing threw fire. “Fire” is the name of a song Springsteen wrote for Elvis. Ax is a term for guitar. Springsteen is the Boss. Elvis is the King. Twitter is what it is. (Kruk politely declined).
I’m not a fan of Ron DeSantis, but no one is really talking about the fact that “Meatball Ron” isn’t just an insult, it’s an ethnic slur. Par for the course, of course (that’s also a golf joke). So I thought I’d point that out.
Joe Biden took a secret 10-hour train ride to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky. Hard to find a fault there, but people will. I’m mostly mentioning it because it’s nice to see Joe Biden’s love of trains now translating to international badassery. I also like how Ukraine’s leaders tend to not dress up. They’ve been working around the clock for a year; they’re showing up in sweatshirts (maybe a fleece) and then they’re getting right back to repelling the invasion, sleeves rolled up.
I think that’s it for now. Have a good week!
